To get the family together, Laura Roark Shropshire and her brothers William, Thomas, Franklin, and Joseph decided to hold the first reunion on August 15, 1959, at Lake Winnespausauka, and 52 family members attended. Each year thereafter, the family hosted an annual reunion. Beginning in 2000, the R-CA held its reunions virtually. The John J. Roark Distinguished Service Award is awarded to R-CA members who have contributed significantly to the Association.
