62nd - 2020 Reunion Highlights
In case you missed the 2020 Virtual Reunion (held September 25 – December 31, 2020), or you would like to view a part of it again, below are a few Reunion highlights along with some links:
Due to COVID 19, it was the first R-CA Reunion held virtually. About 70 Roark and Conner relatives from 23 states around the U.S. signed in (AL, CA, CO, DE, FL, GA, IL, IN, KY, KS, LA, MD, MI, MO, MS, NC, OH, SC, TN, TX, UT, WA, and WV). A number of others visited without officially signing in to the Virtual Reunion. Ten family members were first time reunion attendees. We welcome them and hope they plan to return this year!
Other highlights include:
- Mary Hotze Witt, Registrar, welcomed Virtual Reunion attendees.
- The Meet and Greet Sessions included What Is the R-CA, and Meet Your: Ancestors, 2020 Board of Directors, Past Presidents, Past John J. Roark Distinguished Award Winners, Cousins, Family Reporters, and 2021 President David Johnston.
- The Board of Directors held the annual business meeting and voting for 2021 Board of Directors took place.
- Three family members gave Featured Presentations on two ancestors:
“William Marion & Virginia Conner Roark” given by Debbie & Jessica Johnson,
“Martha Jane Conner & Silas Witt” given by William “Bill” Witt,
and on “Cleaning Cemetery Markers” given by David Johnston. - “Birchwood, Tennessee Memories” were featured in a wonderful video submitted by Connie Roark Perrin and Carlene Delashmitt.
- Two family members provided inspirational messages during the Sunday Worship Service: Rev. James Scott and Roger Roark.
- Many family members submitted beautiful songs for the Sunday Worship Service, including: Dallas Roark on the guitar and singing “I’ll Sing a New Song”, Dan Roark on the guitar sings “This Little Light of Mine”, and “Walking to Jerusalem”, and John A. Roark sings “People Need the Lord”, and John A. Roark and his Quartet, Debbie & Jessica Johnson sing “The Old Rugged Cross” and a family sing-a-long with Margene Higham, Angela Jones and Conner Raber.
- There were many family heirlooms submitted for display. In another video, Margene Higham and Debbie Johnson described their heirlooms.
- We honored Gene Johnson with a Resolution.
- The R-CA thanked Wanda Lovell Wilkey for 11 years of dedicated service to the R-CA.
- To commemorate the 75th anniversary of WWII, we paid tribute to Roark and Conner WWII Veterans.
- To honor family members who had passed since the last reunion, the R-CA conducted a Virtual Memorial Service. View obituaries of those who passed in 2020 here.
- Photos of the 2019 Tennessee Sons of the American Revolution Ceremony were featured.
- We featured “Group Photos” and “Lunch and Fun Photos” taken during past reunions and the Heritage Trail Book.
- There was a Kid’s Room which included a Coloring Book and games.
- There was a Bonus Learning Center and information on GeoNames.

- During the Closing Ceremonies, Terry L. Roark, 2020 President, provided five take home messages for Virtual Reunion attendees.
- There was also a grand finale video produced.
The Board of Directors extends its appreciation to all who contributed to and participated in the Virtual Reunion.
